Enkrateia deconstructs the legacy of 'female hysteria', a diagnosis that historically stripped women of their humanity and turned them into clinical spectacles. Inspired by the haunting archives of La Salpêtrière, this project flips the script on the male gaze. Here, the patient becomes the protagonist. The model steps out of the shadows of 19th century clinical observation and into a space of absolute autonomy. By blending these historical echoes with 2010s grunge, the artist creates a dialogue with the modern day: reclaiming 'excess' as a tool for self-expression. It is a journey of liberation: from being watched to being seen, and from being a subject to becoming the sovereign author of one's own physical form.
